The New Year and 2018 roundup
As I write this, sitting in my activewear ( comfy clothes, one up from pj’s) and wondering how it’s already 4 o’clock in the afternoon and thankful that the 297th day of January is nearly over, I realise that I didn’t do a round up of 2019.
Some of you may know it was a difficult year on a personal health front which included a life-saving surgery, yup, I’m lucky to be here. My lovely consultant informed me after my last lot of intravenous drugs before being dismissed from the hospital. Thankfully I wasn’t really aware of the seriousness of it all. Morphine took care of that! And whilst I was glad to be home, the road to recovery is still ongoing and has been a slow one.
It makes you take stock, so things are changing this year. I will still be working weekends, but they will be limited. Sunday sessions will be one or possibly two a month.
Photographers have families too. My darling daughters have been somewhat neglected, it’s ok they are grown up. I’m not leaving them home alone with a can opener and a tin of baked beans!! And your photographer needs a little self-care time too.
It benefits you. The downtime gives me the creativity to come up with new ideas for you lovely lot. Time to refuel and get back to the bare bones of why I love this job, which is simply capturing families and taking beautiful photos.
This year I want to keep things super simple for you, I’m working on a new what to wear guide and I’ll be pointing you in the right direction to create timeless images.
In addition, I want to get you outside. That takes planning and whilst your local park is fabulous, I’m sure we can come up with something a bit more original between us, and really have some fun with it.
I want to push you to get out of your comfort zone. Which oddly enough will result in more relaxed family images, a more relaxed session, AND unstressed kids! Positives all around.
When the little ones aren’t on a time scale (parents aren’t on a time scale) and the shoot is just another day out, it removes the stress. Keep an eye out for the launch of these magical sessions coming soon. In the meantime, I will be looking for models.
But for now, here are just a few of my favorite images from 2018 and the fabulous families I got to work with (those that I can share at least).
